From concept to creation
Every project is different and brings questions but thanks to over 50 years of experience in the market, Barnshaws specialists have answers ready for most of them. However, some of our Customers’ requirements are way more challenging. This is when our engineers are stepping in to identify and analyse the problem resulting in finding and implementing a new solution.
Sylwester Twardowski, Head of Engineering said: “Every time we face a difficult or problematic request we are following a strict procedure. That includes a feasibility study determining the best approach, thorough research of all the data available, and finally a solution proposal. If the budget is accepted then we begin the development involving the design, manufacturing, and testing stages. Once we reach the required standard we implement the solution into the production and deliver parts to our Customers accordingly.
As an example, thanks to our R&D team effort we’ve been awarded an order for bending almost 400 tons of steel box sections (SHS 300 and SHS 400x400 both in 12.5 mm thicknesses) for the construction of the Sandwell Aquatic Centre in Smethwick which will host the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The technological scrap reduction was the main criteria for the Customer. Thanks to the solution developed by our engineers, we managed to reduce scrap by 69% from 95 tons to just above 30 tons. This proves that with the right people and machinery, there is no limitation to what can be achieved.”
