A new bridge on Merrick Road in London replaces the old one that has been out of service for many years and opens up an important railway route, especially for those traveling on foot or by bike.
The design incorporated a 'Dutch ramp' which is especially useful for bikes, allowing cyclers to go up and down stairs with ease. On top of it, since user safety was an important aspect of this project, lighting and monitoring systems have been installed on-site.
There are also plans to introduce lifts and disabled access to the bridge, and the council will inform local residents of these plans as soon as possible. The project is funded by the council and supported by the Mayor of London and partners.
Barnshaws was appointed to supply 75 curved steel elements (RHS) for that project. Thanks to the extremely wide production capacity, we were able to deliver both long and short elements on time, according to the customer’s specifications.
Greg North, Group Commercial Director, comments: “Another great project behind us. Section bending has long been a mainstay of the Barnshaws Group, that’s why we can provide the best possible service and quality to our customers.
It is very important for us to meet the expectations of our customers, which is why we have been investing in the latest, most advanced machines for years, thanks to which we can provide our customers with exactly what they need.”
To ensure the most cost-effective and efficient material usage, prior to order Barnshaws specialists provide a material utilisation analysis. This assists our customers in achieving unrivaled competitiveness and giving them a true edge in the markets they serve.
