Press Braking

Barnshaws have the largest range of Press Brake facilities in the UK providing a comprehensive service to all industries requiring cold formed Pressed Sections.  We specialise in being able to handle components in the thickest materials and longest lengths.

Press Braking Information

  • Barnshaws are happy to operate on either full supply inclusive of material or on a free issue basis with or without cutting services.
  • Bending capacity covers materials up to 80mm thick.
  • Section lengths up to 12metres giving flexibility of design.
  • 1000 tonne capability.
  • Profile bending to a wide range of dimensions.
  • Special profiles to suit customers specific requirements.
  • Typical Industries served Structural, Construction, Architectural, Chemical, Petrochemical, Marine, Transport, Leisure and Defence.
  • Any size order is achievable.
  • A completely controlled and recorded process.

Design, Quality and Consistency

Barnshaws use the latest CAD and 3D modelling software to provide exploded views and bend developments assuring customers accurate interpretation of their requirements.  All design, material selection, procurement and manufacture being carried out to the highest quality levels using our fully ISO9001 and CE certified procedure for quality, production and documentation with full traceability.

The process

Press Braking takes place with a predefined inner radius using an appropriate bending vee and radius top tool to form flanges incremental radii or to give stiffness to a part.  The load applied along with the tooling setup will dictate the final finish dimensions of the formed part.  The setup is determined from the material specification, its thickness, yield, elongation and the required finished profile.  The springback properties of the material is also taken into account to ensure accurate dimensions are maintained.  We welcome the opportunity to discuss any specific application and advise on capabilities.
